KATIE VERNER – DIRECTOR & TEACHER

Katie enjoyed a very successful musical theatre career in London’s West End along with tours across Great Britain and internationally for 17 years. Last year she understudied Amanda Holden & Tamzin Outhwaite in London’s West End in the comedy play ‘Stepping Out’ at the Vaudeville Theatre where she played the leading role of ‘Mavis’ for the first 10 shows and also appeared as ‘Vera’ on several occasions. Katie has taught musical theatre workshops for children of all ages including 2 years at The Hasland School of Dancing in Herne Bay, Kent. She lived in Los Angeles for 3 years from 2011 with her son Samuel who is now 13 years old. After developing the Little Music Stars curriculum with her close friend Jeanne Friedman in LA she returned back to the UK and is now living in Whitstable. She has been running Little Music Stars classes here in Kent for the past 4 years with plans to expand the LMS curriculum nationwide.
LUCY WESTON – TEACHER

Lucy’s love of the performing arts began at an early age and she spent her childhood years engaged in dance, singing and acting and performing in numerous shows. She completed a Btech in Dance and went on to gain a BA Hons in Dance and Performing Arts at Middlesex University. Her love of performing led her to Cyprus where she worked for five seasons as a presenter and singer in a bar. Keen to pursue a career in teaching, Lucy studied at Tempo Dance and Theatre School in Cyprus, gaining teaching qualifications in Tap, Ballet and Jazz. On completing her training Lucy taught at the School, running a wide range of classes for all ages from 6 month olds to adults. She also taught classes in singing and musical theatre and led many workshops. Lucy moved back to the UK in 2012 to be closer to her family and now lives in Canterbury with her husband and 2 children. She is delighted to be returning to teaching and is passionate about the value of movement and singing for babies and young children.
KATHRYN BROWN – TEACHER
Kathryn has nearly 7 years experience as a singing teacher for all ages, having worked in educational and performance settings around East Kent. Her experience spans from teaching privately in one-to-one settings, group vocal coaching workshops, directing and teaching local choirs, to working as a peripatetic singing and piano teacher in local schools for South East Creative Arts.
Kathryn has always loved singing since a very young age and is especially passionate about vocal health and developing a musical ear in young children. Kathryn lives in Herne Bay with her husband and two young children and is excited to bring her experience and love of music to be a part of the Little Music Stars team.
DAVINA OWEN – FRANCHISEE & TEACHER
Location – Canterbury (Kingston), Folkestone & Hythe
Davina completed a BA Hons in Music specialising in vocal performance and went on to do a PGCE to become a secondary music and drama teacher. She taught for 15 years, the last five being Head of Music. She left the profession after having her 4thchild and went on to be a peripatetic vocal teacher.
She has been involved with musical theatre for many years and has performed in and musically directed several shows. She also enjoys classical music, having previously sung with Bath Camerata, she now sings with Canterbury Choral Society. Her voice can also be heard on a number of commercials including Reebok and Braun.
Davina wanted to return to teaching but not to the classroom so the opportunity to become a franchisee of Little Music Stars was perfect. She’s very excited to be joining the team and being a part of the expansion of LMS.
