KATIE VERNER – DIRECTOR & TEACHER

Katie enjoyed a very successful musical theatre career in London’s West End along with tours across Great Britain and internationally for 17 years. Last year she understudied Amanda Holden & Tamzin Outhwaite in London’s West End in the comedy play ‘Stepping Out’ at the Vaudeville Theatre where she played the leading role of ‘Mavis’ for the first 10 shows and also appeared as ‘Vera’ on several occasions. Katie has taught musical theatre workshops for children of all ages including 2 years at The Hasland School of Dancing in Herne Bay, Kent. She lived in Los Angeles for 3 years from 2011 with her son Samuel who is now 13 years old. After developing the Little Music Stars curriculum with her close friend Jeanne Friedman in LA she returned back to the UK and is now living in Whitstable. She has been running Little Music Stars classes here in Kent for the past 4 years with plans to expand the LMS curriculum nationwide.
LUCY WESTON – TEACHER
Locations – Herne Bay (Mondays), Canterbury & Whitstable
Pre Schools – Bossingham Pre School, Oaks Nursery & Lilliput Pre Schools in Canterbury.
Lucy’s love of the performing arts began at an early age and she spent her childhood years engaged in dance, singing and acting and performing in numerous shows. She completed a Btech in Dance and went on to gain a BA Hons in Dance and Performing Arts at Middlesex University. Her love of performing led her to Cyprus where she worked for five seasons as a presenter and singer in a bar. Keen to pursue a career in teaching, Lucy studied at Tempo Dance and Theatre School in Cyprus, gaining teaching qualifications in Tap, Ballet and Jazz. On completing her training Lucy taught at the School, running a wide range of classes for all ages from 6 month olds to adults. She also taught classes in singing and musical theatre and led many workshops. Lucy moved back to the UK in 2012 to be closer to her family and now lives in Canterbury with her husband and 2 children. She is delighted to be returning to teaching and is passionate about the value of movement and singing for babies and young children.
TAYLOR-ANN KRUYSWIJK – TEACHER
Location – Rochester
Taylor-Ann has been singing and dancing since the age of 3 and is an accomplished dancer and teacher in many different styles. She trained at Peggy Spencer’s School of Dance, Shirley Cox School of Dance and Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. She has competed all over the UK and won many competitions including the World Championships at the famous Blackpool Tower. Taylor has travelled the world appearing in and choreographing many productions. Over the years she has acquired experience and qualifications in Ballroom, Latin American, Modern, Ballet, Tap, Street Dance, Freestyle, Irish Dancing, Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Taylor loves to sing and for many years had her own cabaret act performing in venues all over the UK. She is a Mum and since having her daughter, started her own successful children’s party company. With Taylor’s singing and dance knowledge and experience working with children, she is very excited to be part of the team at Little Music Stars.
KATHRYN BROWN – TEACHER
Location – Herne Bay (Tuesday’s)
Kathryn has nearly 7 years experience as a singing teacher for all ages, having worked in educational and performance settings around East Kent. Her experience spans from teaching privately in one-to-one settings, group vocal coaching workshops, directing and teaching local choirs, to working as a peripatetic singing and piano teacher in local schools for South East Creative Arts.
Kathryn has always loved singing since a very young age and is especially passionate about vocal health and developing a musical ear in young children. Kathryn lives in Herne Bay with her husband and two young children and is excited to bring her experience and love of music to be a part of the Little Music Stars team.
LUCY SMALLMAN – TEACHER
Location – Beckenham
Pre School – Happy Days Pre School, Beckenham
Lucy Smallman has been involved in the performing arts from the tender age of 2. She trained at Italia Conti, and later at the BRIT school where she specialised in dance. She is an experienced workshop leader, having run sessions for local youth theatre group, drama lab. In addition to her work in the dramatic arts, Lucy embarked upon a career with children when she volunteered at Bromley Road infant school and subsequently trained at Baston pre-school in Hayes where she attained a level 3 diploma in childcare in 2010. By 2012 she became the manager of Happy Days pre school in Beckenham, and is now delighted to be a Little Music Stars workshop leader. Lucy currently lives in Beckenham with her 8 year old daughter. She loves keeping fit, going to the theatre and spending time with her family.
